Drill Press Table
If you are a woodworker, you understand the frustration of dealing with a metal drill press table. It’s just not functional for us woodworkers.
So, After many years and many dysfunctional drill press tables, I Finally designed my own.
I created the plan on V-Carve Pro, and used my SHARK HD-520 to mill out the T-track slots, removable sacrificial plate pocket, and mounting holes. The table is made with a 3/4” Melamine and 3/4” plywood glue-up making it very stable and strong. The aluminum T-tracks are both epoxied and screwed into the table. I used 3/8” solid white oak trim around the table to make it look good. There is a cutout on the back side to accommodate the drill press post. The fence is solid Maple rabbited on to a melamine brace to keep it stable and true. I used a Rockler t-track on top of the fence with two flip-stops that I find extremely useful in repeating holes accurately. The fence glides freely along the T-tracks and can be used parallel or skewed. The numerous T-tracks are very useful in clamping work to the table when needed. When the sacrificial plate needs changing, I just pop out the old one and tap in the new.
I only wish I had made this years ago.
