Be a part of your neighborhood.

Everyone will enjoy this beautiful neighborhood library. I built the original for my neighbor (retired school teacher) and helped them install it in the front yard. I see it being enjoyed daily by all the neighborhood residents and thought it would be nice to share on my website.

It is made strong and built to last for many years against the elements. It is water tight. (I checked through the winter and there wasn’t a drop of water inside.) I used flashing tape and real shingles on the roof. 1/4” plexi-glass in a hardwood frame with a marine grade spar varnish on the door. The door is engraved with “Take a Book” “Leave a Book”. Side windows are plexi with cedar wood frames. Books can be put on two shelves. Inside is finished with semi-gloss white for easy cleaning, outside with weather resistant “schoolhouse red”. Aluminum drip edge over door keeps rain from dripping in. Earth magnet door catch keeps the door closed even in high winds.

The post is made from solid 4 x 4 Cedar with side supports to hold the weight.

Library size - (about 35 Lbs) 30” H x 18” W x 12” D

Post Size - 4” x 4” x 72” H

The cost of materials and amount of time to build this Library is high. It’s probably not a good cost ratio for my business, but I will entertain offers to build on request. Just contact me through this form:
